As all of my closest friends know, I am a diehard fan of both Taking Back Sunday and Brand New. And anyone who knows those bands knows that there is a feud between them that dates back long ago, so I'm going to do my best to explain it before I put the videos on here. John Nolan (old guitarist/singer for Taking Back Sunday - he left and formed Straylight Run) and Jesse Lacey (lead singer and guitarist for Brand New) had been friends for a long time. When Brand New were recording their first album "Your Favorite Weapon", John had supposedly messed around (kissed/banged/licked whipped cream off of, not if any of these or something else) with Jesse's girlfriend at the time. This sparked Jesse to write the song "Seventy Times 7" which is actually one of my favorite songs ever written by Brand New. And contrary to popular belief, when John wrote Taking Back Sunday's answer to that song, "There's No 'I' In Team", it wasn't too make the feud keep going, it was more of an apology. Of course there were other things, Brand New's shirt which stated "Because Mics Are For Singing, Not Swinging" talking about Adam Lazzarra's (Taking Back Sunday lead vocalist) on-stage antics swinging his microphone around. Taking Back Sunday then released a shirt which said "Proudly Swinging Since 1999" which I actually bought at one of their concerts. Anyways, all has been resolved between John Nolan and Jesse Lacey and their bands (Straylight Run and Brand New) often tour together. And now I am being rushed by Lauren to put these two videos up, so she'll smile.
This video is Brand New's "Seventy Times 7" featuring John Nolan.
Now this video is Taking Back Sunday's "There's No 'I' In Team" featuring Jesse Lacey
Screamo history being made back then... smile Lauren!!!
